Our First Reading Celebration Today
Every class in the school was able to pick their favorite movie/play/T.V. show to represent in our school-wide parade today. Our class chose Curious George (of course...we love our monkeys)!! We all had a Curious George mask, and we all wore a "curious" sign that we decorated ourselves.
Our school mascot, (J.J. the Jaguar), is giving Mrs. Ledford a high-five. It was so exciting to see him this morning. If every student in our school reads at least 25 books this year, then J.J. will come back to visit us...let's get reading!
Here we are beginning our march...
We marched all around the front parking lot of the school.
What a great time we had this morning. Let's make sure we are all reading at home every single day, so that we can go to all 4 reading celebrations at school this year!

First Homework Assignment Due Tomorrow
Just a reminder that your child's first homework assignment, (which was sent home last Friday 8/27) is due tomorrow. Please make sure you practice the 8 "Skills Words" with them, since they will have an assessment on them tomorrow. We have practiced these 8 high frequency words all week during our skills block time.
The new homework packet will go home tomorrow afternoon, and will be due back the following Friday (9/10).
Here is a picture of Mrs. Ledford going over the 8 words again during our skills block time today. She is due to have her baby tomorrow...we'll see what happens!!! :)
(It's also Mrs. Ledford's birthday on Saturday...maybe she will have a new baby for her birthday present this year!) :)
Math Investigations Today
The Essential Question we have been working on in math for quite a few days now is "What are the different purposes that numbers can be used for?". We have been exploring that question in many ways, and today we played a game that involved counting dots, and figuring out who had more. We did a great job working with math partners! Here are some pictures of us hard at work today.
