We are excited to say that each classroom in our school received 4 brand new mac computers last week. We are now teaching your child how to log on and become familiar with using them. What a great classroom resource these computers will be!

We will only be in school for 2 days next week (Monday and Tuesday) becuase of the Thanksgiving holiday. For that reason we will not be sending home the usual homework this Friday, but we will be sending home a daily reading log. Please make sure that your child is reading every single day and writing down those books on the book log for credit. Have a great holiday! :)

This week we will begin working on report writing in writers workshop. We will be working with a lot of non-fiction books to gather information for these reports. We will be learning about a table of contents, chapter headings, and the best ways to organize information. Find out what non-fiction books your child is interested in, and try to check some out of the public library. (for example: their favorite animal)

Don't forget to be reading with your child for at least 20 minutes each night, it is so important for their success this year! Thanks for your continued support from home.

Welcome to First Grade!
We are so glad to have you in our first grade class this year! We are looking forward to a fun year filled with meaningful learning!
The following is a list of school supplies needed for each student this year:
- 2 plastic pocket folders
- 1 pencil box
- 1 small box of crayons
- 1 package of pencils
- adhesive glue sticks
- tissues
- hand sanitizer (we go through this VERY fast...any extras throughout the year are appreciated!)
- gallon sized plastic bags
Please mark your calendars for Thursday night, September 4th at 6:30PM. This is Open House night and we want to see you all there! This is a chance for you to learn more about our standards and all of the great learning your child will be doing this year. We look forward to seeing you there!
